Installation Technician - Career Opportunity - Vista, CA

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Installation Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and commissioning Mid-Energy Portals (MEP), Low Energy Portals (LEP), IP6500 Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS), and Exploranium Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) systems. The role involves troubleshooting, technical support, and ensuring the proper maintenance and calibration of tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

Install and commission Mid-Energy Portals (MEP), Low Energy Portals (LEP), IP6500 Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS), and Exploranium Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) systems.
Isolate equipment start-up malfunctions and take corrective actions.
Perform a variety of technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, and software at customer and/or factory locations.
Work on equipment that may have little or no documentation or training.
Meet weekly project installation goals within required deadlines.
Support engineering activities during Factory Acceptance testing.
Ensure tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
Collaborate with team members to achieve success during installations of equipment and systems.
Maintain clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written.
Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.
Perform ad-hoc and predetermined work assignments following instructions.
Maintain effective customer communications and relations.
Multi-task, work accurately, and pay attention to detail in a field service environment.
Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, system manuals, and technical directives for troubleshooting purposes.

Essential Skills

4+ years of relatable experience.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using a wiring diagram/schematic.
Ability to read and follow assembly documents.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Working knowledge of Windows application/software navigation.
Ability to obtain a US Passport to support OCONUS travel.
Ability to work outdoors and in all types of weather conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Computer literacy; competency in the use of all programs within the MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
Working knowledge of x-ray and/or CT technologies.
Network installation and configuration experience is a plus.
PLC experience is a plus.
Previous field electrical assembly experience.
Certified forklift and aerial lift operator.
Experience with rigging and material handling.
Basic understanding of OSHA standards and practices.
Software integration with electric/mechanical equipment.
Previous hands-on project management experience is a plus.
Bilingual language skills (Spanish) are a plus.

Work Environment

Work will be based out of our Vista location, assisting in day-to-day system assembly to gain product knowledge. Travel is expected to be 3 weeks on the road and 1 week at the Vista location each month. When in the field, work can take place at border crossings, ports of entry in the US, or potentially internationally, with travel expected 75% of the time. Workdays may vary; if not in the field, it will be standard Monday - Friday, first shift. When in the field, hours and days will be dictated by the project, and flexibility is key. Overtime should be expected.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
