ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Security Director, the Security Shift Manager performs all levels of Security, supervisory management and exercising essential daily Security operations. The Security Shift Manager responds to all emergency incidents. The Security Shift Manager is responsible for providing security and protection for assets, persons, buildings and/or property, within the Casino by enforcing the rules and regulations along with the policies and procedures and providing excellent customer service utilizing the Tesuque Proud Guest Service Standards. The Security Shift Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of their shift. The Security Shift Manager assumes the duties of Incident Commander as required.

Note: Native American preference will be given.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide a secure environment for guests, employees, administration and the general public.
Provide a pleasant experience for guests utilizing the Tesuque Proud Guest Service Standards.
Protect records, assets, merchandise and equipment of the Casino.
Participate in daily security operations by being alert and observant at all times.
Prepare routine incident reports on employees, guests or other related incidents.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Be able to counsel and/or discipline as required.
Take control of or provide support with emergency situations.
Responds to all emergencies as required.
Attain and retain working knowledge of Casino’s Internal Controls, Security’s Policies and Procedures, Gaming and interdepartmental policies and procedures.
Promote the highest degree of quality customer service, both internally and externally.
Investigates all unusual or suspicious activities/incidents.
Monitors and reviews all incident reports for proper content and completeness.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

GED or high school diploma required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or qualifying degree preferred.
Must have five (5) years of Security, Military, Law Enforcement or qualifying experience.
Must have five (5) years in supervisory and/or leadership role.
First aid/CPR Certified.
Must have strong organizational, communication, human relations and decision-making skills.
Must be computer-literate.
Must be a creative problem solving.
Must be a self-starter with excellent follow through.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be able to function successfully in a team environment.
Must be able to perform essential security duties including first aid/CPR.
Must be a self-starter with excellent follow through.
Must be able to work and interact with departments throughout the organization.
Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in a high stress environment.
Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, nights and weekends.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain gaming license from the Pueblo of Tesuque Gaming Commission.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Security Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing the Security Staff in the Security Department during their shift, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. The supervisor provides guidance and assistance in addressing unusual situations that may arise, particularly those without clear precedents or requiring interpretation of policies and regulations.

Following initial training, the Security Shift Manager is expected to perform duties independently, demonstrating proficiency and autonomy in task execution. Regular spot checks are conducted to evaluate accuracy, adequacy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and policies.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods. The employee occasionally is required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will be required to talk for extended periods and must be able to hear and understand. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. The work environment includes a variety of settings, such as: indoors, outdoors, gaming machines, food, oils, and hot surfaces. The incumbent occasionally exposed to loud noise, change in temperatures, and second-hand smoke.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in a casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Due to the nature and scope of this position, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.

The Pueblo of Tesuque has existed in the foothills of the gorgeous Sangre de Cristo mountains since as early as 1200 AD.

Tesuque is the Spanish variation of a traditional Tewa language name for “village of the narrow place of the cottonwood trees.” The beauty of the surrounding land has served as inspiration for countless native artists who craft beautiful paintings, pottery, clothing and silverwork.

The beauty of this magnificent landscape also contributed to the design and construction of the casino, with massive walls of windows giving every guest a front row seat to some of the most spectacular imagery that nature has to offer. Deeply rooted in Pueblo tradition, Tesuque Pueblo observes traditional ceremonies year-round, including the annual feast day of San Diego on November 12.

Tesuque Pueblo is also one of the smallest pueblos in the state, with a population of around 800, though the pueblo itself occupies more than 17,000 acres of land. Due to the age of the pueblo, it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This enchanting land has drawn the attention of authors and artists from outside the pueblo as well, having been either featured in, or the setting of several novels and countless pieces of artwork.
