Description

Project Manager Position: An experienced project manager is needed to join Dr. James Harmon's surgical research team. The project manager position involves coordinating the development and completion of research projects, abstract submissions, and manuscripts for Dr. James Harmon's clinical research team. The project manager position involves coordinating the orderly and proper collection of research data, organization and optimization of data display, and coordination of effective literature reviews to facilitate the completion of scientific manuscripts through online and virtual meetings as well as "in-person" meetings with the members of Dr. James Harmon's clinical research team to write, edit, and submit manuscripts for possible publication. The project manager position also involves coordinating the required investigator aspects of writing grant applications, including but not limited to internal University of Minnesota grant applications, Scientific Society or Foundation grant applications, and NIH and DOD grant applications. The project manager position involves integration of the efforts of the research team with the members of the Surgical Administrative Center Finance Office and Grant and Contracts Administrative teams to adhere to University of Minnesota financial and grant writing policies and procedures. The project manager will:

Oversee research project development and completion.
Ensure timely progress on research projects, literature reviews, and manuscript preparation.
Assisted the investigators in writing any of the required investigator aspects of competitive grant applications and to integrate the scientific and research elements into the administration aspects by working with the formal Department of Surgery grant support team members.
This position requires a leader who coordinates multiple teams, manages project timelines, and drives initiatives from conception, execution, submission, and review.
The successful candidate will coordinate project objectives, manage resources, and communicate clearly.
The project manager must facilitate the process of surgical research to guide projects and competitive grant applications and manuscripts from initiation to submission.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Research Project Management 45%

Ensure timely progress on research projects, literature reviews, and manuscript preparation.
Assisted the investigators in writing any of the required investigator aspects of competitive grant applications and to integrate the scientific and research elements into the administration aspects by working with the formal Department of Surgery grant support team members.
Facilitating regular project meetings and providing updates to research team members.
Developing comprehensive project plans detailing scope, timelines, and benchmark goals and assisting in organizing and coordinating meetings for research projects.
Leading and managing multiple surgical research projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and driving project objectives forward.

Research Regulatory Management 35%

Development, submission, and maintenance of IRB protocols on behalf of the Department of Surgery assigned clinical research teams.
Responsible for interpretation of, application of, and compliance with Federal Regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and University policies related to assigned research protocols.
Ensure timely and accurate data and regulatory submissions; engage with clinical research teams and Department of Surgery staff to ensure adequate documentation is available.
Monitor and ensure adherence to research protocols, IRB, Data Use Agreements, and other state and local regulations.
Consult with the Surgical Administrative Center Finance Office and Grant and Contracts Administrative team to adhere to University financial and grant writing policies and procedures.

Administrative 20%

Identify areas for improvement and lessons learned for future surgical research projects.
Monitoring and reporting on project progress, preparing status reports, and presenting findings to Dr. Harmon and his research team members.

Other job responsibilities as assigned.
