Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is part of a Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)-owned family of companies comprising large and 8(a) small businesses. Our mission is to create and implement elegant solutions to the government’s most challenging problems while increasing economic opportunities for the Native Hawaiian community. Over the past 10 years, Nakupuna has become a leader among NHOs and through our successes, the Nakupuna Foundation has given over $11MM to the Native Hawaiian community.

This position is part of a team that supports the USINDOPACOM Alpha contract. The Financial Management Specialist will perform financial analysis, including creating financial plans, managing the office’s financial management tool, preparing budget exhibits, and handling budgeting and budget execution for all financial accounts managed by client office.

Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

Prepare financial reports by collecting, formatting, analyzing, and explaining information.
Monitor accounting, budget execution and financial management reports to ensure financial integrity, timelines, accuracy and validity.
Advise senior leaders on the development or revision of financial management policies or programs.
Prepare financial management data, listings, reports and metrics regarding the status of funds.
Explain and interpret complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial audiences.
Perform cost-benefit analysis to recommend, defend, or justify decisions.
Prepare budget exhibits quarterly to track the execution of current funding and develop spending plans for future financing.
Evaluate risk levels in financial transactions; conduct risk assessment and mitigation planning.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards across all analyses and reporting.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualificiations The Financial Management Specialist is essential for maintaining the program’s financial health and making strategic decisions based on well-informed information and insights. This position demands strong financial expertise, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills. Ideal candidates will have a robust finance background, familiarity with DoD financial systems, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to guide and influence business decisions at a senior level.

Education and Experience: This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

The following are desirable levels of experience:

3+ years of experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
3+ years of relevant experience in Financial Management.

Work Location: Work is performed in Honolulu, HI.

Clearance: This position requires a TS/SCI security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergencies.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $95,000.00 to $160,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
