Onggi is an upscale casual Korean restaurant that will be located in the vibrant neighborhood of Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. Our 2,000-square-foot space will accommodate 60 seats, offering an intimate yet inviting dining experience. The restaurant is slated to open in January 2025.

Inspired by a desire to share the rich flavors and traditions of Korean cuisine, we aim to create a space where the local community and visitors from around the world can gather and enjoy authentic Korean dishes. We hope to offer an experience that captures the warmth and essence of traditional Korean food.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled line cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with a focus on quality and attention to detail. As a Line Cook at Onggi, you will work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to prepare and execute dishes according to our menu, ensuring consistency and a high-quality dining experience.

Responsibilities will include:

- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and guidelines, ensuring appropriate taste and presentation.

- Complete mise en place and set up workstations for service.

- Ensure proper maintenance and correct use of kitchen equipment.

- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and organized work area.

- Collaborate with the chef de cuisine and other kitchen staff to communicate special requests, manage incoming orders, and ensure smooth kitchen operations.

- Assist in inventory management by reporting supply shortages and helping with receiving and properly storing food supplies.

- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of dishes while addressing any issues that arise.

- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

- Food safety and sanitation certified.

- At least 2 years of experience as a line cook or in a similar role.

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of fundamental cooking techniques and recipes, with an openness to learning traditional Korean cooking methods and ingredients. Knowledgeable in maintaining and operating kitchen equipment.

- Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask between stations.

- Ability to work night, weekend, and holiday hours.
